I have an 02 GT conv .with the Mach 460 system. I changed the headunit to a Sony 7715 and put a 10" bazooka in the trunk. Sounds alot better than stock and has more punch than it did. The car is missing some highs though. The headunit is running the 2.5" up front so would it be possible to replace them with tweeters to help round out the sound? Also could I replace the 2.5" in the rear with a set of tweeters also? Has anyone else done this?

yes but your going to need to run inline low pass filters to make sure no low frequancy signals get to the tweeters.

most of the tweeters are made to be added on to a system so they come with their own crossover.

My headunit has a high pass filter built-in so I should be good without any inline filters. i already tried some up front today and it sounds alot better. Would it sound better with a set in the back too or would it be too much? They're not that loud being played off the headunit anyway so it may be just enough with 2 sets.

you really dont need them in the back, all your highs and mids should some from the front, but its a personall preference.

im with you, you can tell people over and over that all the rear speakers really do is give you some rear fill, but instead of investing money in a very high quality set of components and an amp they all sacrafice and get huge 3 way speakers for the rear and skimp on the front.

its funny that i've been in the car audio industry for a while and i've learned a few things and try to pass it on and help, then somebody will come along and try to make everybody look stupid because they spent 500 buck on separates for the rear.

you know what works for you,i know what works for me,as for the rest they know more

The reason I'm asking about putting tweeters in the back is that the ones up front aren't that loud. I'm thinking that a set in the back would help the ones up front and have a more rounded sound. Does that make any sense?
