the '65 coups starting its resto mod. but i just wanted your opinions first.
1) Do i paint the outside then drop the engine in? Im thinking i could paint the engine bay the same color as the outside then..
2) Paint the engine bay myself flat black, drop the engine in, then repaint?

Now the part for opinions:

1) Add an R apron, 3 inch cowl, and racing stripes?
2) Add an R apron, GT-350 Hood, and racing stripes?
3) Blue with white stripes? Black with Silver stripes? or White with Blue stripes?
p.s i will also be going with a blacked out grill w. no coral. anyone know where i can find one?
Im sort of leaning toward black with silver stripes..i think it would look sick!

I like the cowl hood the best out of all the hoods available for the 65-66 mustangs, I think the painting idea is all up to you, im not too good a picking colors as my car is aqua and i like it that way. For the grill all you need is a 65 grille and not to put the coral on it.

thanks for the info bout the grill. on the topic of cowl hoods, what company is the best? i heard that meir is not very good? i know this is debated topic, but whats the general concensus?

As for your paint process, if you are going to repaint the engine bay anyway, might as well do it with the engine out. Then drop it in.

I like the cowl hood Idea. As for your paint, I wouldnt go white with blue stripes, done too much already. The other two sound goo. or maybe black with dark red stripes. It's all up to you. Gop with what YOU think looks best. My '73 is yellow with black, hood only, racing stripes.

I am partial to the GT-350 hood, R-model apron, blue with white stripes myself, but hey...

I wouldn't go with a cowl hood if I were you, stick with the GT-350 hood. As for the paint, I think black with silver stripes would look great. There are so many white with blue and blue with white (Not that it doesn't look good). You should also check into which R-model apron you like better, one that allows you to retain the stock bumper, or one that requires you to remove it.

I'm kind of partial to the Sienna Metallic pearl (Burgundy-red color) that you see on the 2003 Jeeps and Mitsubishi's. That color with a set of pearlescent blue ghost stripes would look awesome IMO.

I think that the GT350 hood and the racing apron w/o the bumper is just a sweet classic look, but in some states law requires a front bumper, so it might come down to how many times you want to be stopped for no front bumper.

i just got my car back from the shop with the 2.5 inch cowl hood from mustangs unlimites as well as the fiberglass apron that allows the use of the front bumper, car looks great as it also just got a fresh paint job and body work :) ill post pics very soon

Matt how well fitting/how much work was needed on the parts from mustang unlimited. Ive heard that branda also doesnt offer great glass as well as mier (sp?) Ill have to check in to NJ state laws about that bumper. Anyone got pics of a R apron with a bumper..its seems like the R apron was ment to not have a bumper. Meaning the bumper would seem out of place? i dunno tho..

the hood and apron fit pretty well, just some finishing needed to be done as well as minor modification to make them fit, but u will see that with almost all fiberglass parts........as far as the apron and bumper are concerned, it looks perfectly normal, go to www.mustangsplus.com and look at the pics of the cars they have there, almost all of them have some sort of fiberlass apron or hood, one of the members on here has his car in there, mjday or something like that, its very nice, take a look at it.
