I have an aeromotive setup with the 1000 pump. I'm on my third pump right now but I'm doing my pickup at the bottom of the sump that is welded on. I have a 100 micron filter on the intake of the pump and a 10 micron on the outside. It works better than the Walbro 255 which couldn't keep up.

I currently just have a Walbro in tank 255lph pump. Car gets dyno'd Tuesday so we'll see if the pump has enough jam for my KB. Haven't installed the BAP yet. The 96-98 cars have return style fuel systems. I can't see why you couldn't just get a tank out of a wrecking yard. You'd have to run a return line i would assume.

sounds like all you need is a good tune. stay away from the 96/97/98 as you would need more than a tank and pump(s), filler hose is different, 96/97 have seperate holes in the tank for a sender and pump. to much hassle, get your car tuned, SCT is @ the best out there
