What is the rev limiter on a 95 5.0. Mine is kicking in at about 4900 rpm. I'm not liking the power curve. I would like to take it to 5200 or a little higher. Comments?
the rev limiter on foxes is 6250 - i would not have thought that the SN's would be lower (if so, maybe 6K is as low as i would guess). im betting you have a bad tach signal or TFI etc on the way out, which is mimicing the limiter. need more info to know (so dont take offense to what i said. it is based only on the info given).
Just guessing, I just got the car and it cuts out at 4900-5000. I don't like it. Should I try changing the TFI? I adjusted the timing to 12 degreees but it flats at 5K every time. Its a Cobra too. I know the ecu sux on the 94-95 cobra but 5k? That is a little low on the power band.

a rev limiter will be a bit violent. if you are simply 'falling on your face' that might be you comin out of the powerband. most stockish 5.0's are out of gas (figuratively) at 5K or a smidge over.
Well yah. Stock tach is cutting out at 4900-5000. I just got the car a week a go so I have not got my autometer tach yet but still I think that I am cutting out early. I can tell just by driving. What can I do to check the rev limiter? This is cutting out too early.
im not familiar with the programming on their computers. the stock tach is normally optimistic, but perhaps not in your case.
so when you hit 4900 rpm, what happens? does it start to miss or what? the fox EEC cuts fuel in somewhat random fashion to the various cylinders. TFI's on the way out will often not allow revving over 4K.
does the problem occur at all times, or only when hot or cold (etc)?
