richmond?

ok, so I bought my car used and it came with this "richmond" sticker on the inside of the trunk, and I had no idea what it was. and just a second ago I saw the same logo on mustangsunlimited.com, and I know that they do all rear end stuff. I have a 40mphish whine in my rear end, so I am assuming I have either ring and pinion, or no slip differential. how do I know what richmond parts are on my car? I mean it may just be the sticker, but who would do that haha

I dunno, ive got a Steeda sticker on my car, and see no Steeda parts... unless thats what my springs are, but from the ride they feel like they are cut down stockers.

People say that Richmond gears whine... dunno if its true or not... Gears shouldnt whine if its a good install IMO.

cant. my dealership wont give me any of his information, and he is away like all the time due to him being a navy pilot. (car came with a "flyboys" sticker on the third brake light and a POW-MIA patch inside) so thats not an option. My speedo is about 10mph fast, but I dont know if thats my tires? 275/35/18 and 285/35/18

well there some brands that whine more than others.

the speedo isnt off 10 mph. cause itwould be constant. you actually can do the math. have a friend pace you at like 70 you can devide your mph by theirs. if you have 4.10s you should be about 1.254 timeshigher in speed. 65 shows up as 81.5 on your speedo. buy a calibrator cause it will also show that you have more miles on your car than you do. 3.73s at 65 will display 74 mph if uncalibrated.

hope that helps. stock gts have 3.27 gears usually. you can devide our stock ratio by aftermaket and do the math.....

I'm looking in my richmond 4.10 gear box now and see it came with a 12 3/4" by 2 3/4" blue and white RICHMOND sticker is that it? One way you can tell is by jacking up the rear end and rotating you rear wheel one full turn and counting the nuber on times a hash mark you make on ur axle rotates. if it rotates 2.73 (for a man.) or 3.08 (for an auto) times it's stock. if it rotates just at 3 1/2 its 3.55's if over that 3.73's and a bit over 4 its 4.10's. Hope i helped

looks like you need an SCT X-cal 2 Tune that speedo for gears and wheels

I have to correct ya... you probably know what ya meant to say...

You spin your tire one complete revolution, and have the Driveshaft marked, and make note of how many times the driveshaft rotates per 1 spin of the tire.

I would swap FRPP ring and pinion asap.

yeah it whines at about 40, but Im not really too concerned. turns out they are 4.10s, checked with the driveshaft rotating. worked well. so what are the pros and cons of 4.10s now that i found that i have them, and what can I expect out of a quarter mile run now?

Some will say no cons. Gas milage and higher rpm's might be the only con. Expect 2 to 3 tenths faster in the quarter. Pearl02.
