Right Fuel Pressure for 65 Fastback?

Hi Gurus,
I changed my stock fuel pump with Holley Fuel Pump, don't ask me WHY, i do not know :(

When i installed new fuel pump, i got some problems

1) blue smoke from exhaust
2) start-up problem

Than, i read some articles, and buy Fuel Pressure Regulator and Fuel Pressure Gauge then installed yesterday.

I set 4 1/2 psi. Is it OK for my 289 A code Fastback

Now, solved some problems. What is the reason of problems?

Regards

Well, the flippant answer would be you read too many magazines. :)

Basically, the Holley pump is more than you need. Dig the old pump out and try it. You might find your troubles go away.

You want the fuel pressure to be right around 7 psi for carb applications. Set your fuel pressure regulator accordingly and I would also suggest checking the float levels in your carb. the reason for the blue smoke is likely because you had too much fuel pressure causing a flooding situation.
