I wouldn't put a 245 on a 9 inch wheel. I have them on my 18x9 front wheels, and the lip sticks out farther than the tire, like the tire had to stretch to seal the bead. Next time will get at least a 255 in front, but more than likely a 265 or 275. My rears are 285's. Here's a couple pics of my front and rear wheels to show what I mean.

Matt, I'm almost positive that you would be able to go with a 295 on a 9". I had 275s on my previous 8" cobra wheels. The tire did bulge out a little bit, but I liked the look, plus it protected the wheel. Since the wheels I'll be buying are made only in a 9", I'm hoping a 305 or at a minimum a 295 fits.

My vote.. I'm running 255/40/18's front, and 295/35/18's rear. I had the 245's but they looked too small on the front. My next sizes will be 265 front and 315 rear.

Even though the tires are fairly new. I would think about the number of tires you plan to go through vs. the number of rims. I wouldn't put anything smaller than a 9" rim on my mustang, and would prefer the 10.5" in the rear. Put some 8 or 8.5s in the front, and have an extra set of front tires. Then buy a pair of tires for the rear.

I have AFSwheels off ebay. They are very good quality and very reasonably priced.



These are 9" wide all the way around WITH A 1" SPACER IN THE REAR.

Either way, buy the rims you want... then the tires.

When you buy wheels I suggest you go with the same size for all 4. If you were to go 17x9's in the front and 17x10.5 in the back you can't really rotate your tires. When I bought my 98 cobras I was sure to get all 4 tires the same size. Granted, a bigger tire in the rear looks f'n sweet, but, I like the fact that I can rotate them every 3000 miles. That may sound like overkill to alot of you but the key to keeping tread on your tires is rotation(well besides keeping your foot out of the throttle) I've got 12,000 miles on my 245/45/17 general UHP's and they still look new. Bought them off of tire rack for 81 bucks a piece and they handle wet roads and hook like no other tire I've ever owned.

Not sure what kind of power you put down, but when you run D/Rs out back, you won't ever want to waste them on the front. Right now I have D/Rs and ET Streets on another pair of black Bullitts. When the D/Rs wear out, I'll put some street tires back on them, but they will be wider than I care to run on the front. Eventually I plan to run skinnies up front.

I had a full set of matching tires before. My front tires are still fine, no weird wear on them. But I've gone through a couple of sets of rear tires. So does it really matter if you can rotate them front to back? Sure I guess if you want every penny out of them. Heck, if I'm worried about every penny. I would own a hybrid, not a muscle car.

So it's all a matter of opinion. :wink:

17x9's on 245's all around, 1" spacers on the rear. Like someone said above though, dont run less than a 255 on a 9 inch wheel, it wont look right. Once these wear out im going 255 front/295 rear.
