I have a 2010 mustang. It has a crappy sounding stereo. No big deal to me, because I'm so far past my teenage years that it doesn't matter to me.

However...........

I've got this daughter that has a 2005 mustang. Music is a BIG deal to her. Therefore, for her christmas, I am wanting to try to upgrade her stereo. I think she has a base stereo, which, if you want to know the truth, sounds a lot better than my base stereo....but anyhow........

I call up a couple of audio places online and tell them what I want. They tell me that I need to change not only the speakers, but also change out the deck. Why? Because they said that after market decks add more power and that helps the sound. In MY mind, I would think you should add an amp, but they said that the deck might be better because of all the wiring things you'd have to do.

Since I told them I didn't want to spend over 300 dollars, here is what they advised. Four 6X8 pioneer speakers, dual cones(?) I think, and a clarion deck that sells for 120 dollars.

To all of you who know audio, does this make sense? Sound like I'm on the right path here? I wanted to ask around here before I actually make the order. Thanks for help that any of you might provide.

Don't listen to them, that's a load of crap. They're just trying to get you to buy more stuff. The factory HU is fine, BUT I would add an amp. You can do a LOC off the rear 6x8's if you find a nice 4 channel amp that doesn't have high-level inputs. What type of music does she listen to? For the money, she might be happier with a small single sub in her trunk rather than new speakers.
