rocker arms and valve springs

I have a 95 4.6 32valve engine and I took the valve cover off and noticed that I had a broken valve spring and on another valve I had a cracked rocker arm. Is this common, and what should I do?

Never common...

Second question is pretty easy...get it fixed.

Looking for a cause? Could be high mileage wore out the spring...or an over rev...could be lots of reasons.

They are probably just worn out and can use a good rebuild with a valve job and port.
