Rocker question

So i have about mayyyybe 30 miles on my 349 stroker and it keeps losing a rocker,the same one,just loosening up enough to get noisy.The heads are Edlebrocks and were gone through by the builder.

Also this thing is running hot,dont know if its from being new still or ????I have total timing set at 32*It reached 180* while driving then creeps to 210,210+ I have a Be Cool radiator,Brassworks pump,and 2, 16" pusher-puller fans, and the hoods off still

Ive adjusted them 5 times,cleaned the poly locks,drove it less then a block and 1 loosened up again.Whats going on here???I had theis problem before on the other engine.Are these poly locks junk or what????

done that,they loosen up as soon as you rev it

I'd try getting some new poly locks (maybe you got a defective one, it happens) if that doesn't work, get all the oil off the stud and and polylock, put loctite on it before you put it on and then adjust it.

It actually gets loose that quick? How much, turn-wise?

Perhaps you should take an old junky pair of valve covers and make an oil shield so you can have someone rev it while you look at that rocker.

Well,on my other forum,somebody brought up a good point,I havent noticed the poly lock being loose,the lash is so the rocker is loose,the poly lock is still tight.Im gonna make sure tomorrow.

Stop driving the car!

If the lock is remaining tight, either the stud is pulling out of the head, you have bent a pushrod, your rocker is defective and getting worse, OR you have a cam lobe going flat (very fast, I might add.)

Did you break in the cam for 30 minutes at 2000+ RPM's?

Definately time for a thorough evaluation. Compare the stud height to the other studs. Roll the pushrod on a very flat surface, such as a plate of glass. Take the rocker off and look at it-compare it to a different one. With the engine off, measure how high the pushrod goes up from the base circle and compare it to another cylinder (compare intake to intake and exhaust to exhaust.)

Take your time and you should be able to figure out what went wrong.

The cam was broken in properly

The studs are screw in and havent moved.

Pulled a pushrod and its not bent,the rocker looks ok too.

The cam going flat,i dont know about that,somebody else suggested that too.

Im going to try again today,if nothing ill call the engine builder Monday.

Well the cam isnt going flat,it turns out that for some reason,the roller rockers are noisier that last time,dont know why,but ive adjusted again and they arent loose,but it sounds like a solid cam(its not)I guess withthe hood off,im just not used to all the noise.
