Roll Bar Help

I was looking at Summit roll bars and cages and I noticed that the 8 point kit uses 1 3/4 tube and the 10 pt kit uses 1 5/8 tube.

My 05 NHRA rule book says 1 3/4 tube for mild steel and does not seem to say anything different about roll bars and cages.

I am leaning toward the 8 pt, but could I buy the 10 pt and only install the 8 pt section or would that fail to meet the rules? I was wanting to upgrade to 10 when, or, if, I ever need it.

Hmm,thats a tough one,Im not sure where my rule book is off hand,but I believe you can use the 1 5/8" if its a certain wall thickness,or if its Chro-Moly.
