roller bearing idler arm kit

Anybody use the roller bearing on their 65-66 ? I know it's suppose to reduce steering effort but according to Mustang's Plus it's only recommended for track use, because it doesn't return the wheel to center like the stock bushing. Any comments ? Anything I can do to reduce the steering effort on this car is my goal, short of power steering. Don't have the wallet for that right now.

Alignment controls the return to center, the idler arm with bushing helps but if your car is aligned correctly you should be fine.

I have one been waiting a year to put it in and plan on it this weekend finally.

How long do you think it will take to do the install Dodge ?

I have one on my daily driver '64 Falcon Sprint . The steering is much smother and the return to center is not a problem with a performance alignment. The factory settings are for a car with bias ply tires. Make sure your aglignment guy doesn't use the factory settings and you'll be fine. We use these settings on all of our street cars.

0 to .5 neg. camber on both sides

1.5 to 2.5 pos. caster on both sides

1/8" toe in

I've been using one for a year now and like it. No problem with the steering returning to centre either.

I was able to install mine in about an hour, however I didn't run into any gotchas either.

My Shelby came from the factory with a roller idler arm. When I went to replace it about 20 years ago they were not available....I guess it is time to switch back.

I'm hoping to get it done all in one day.

Hopefully it won't take more than an hour or two....I'm putting in my new drag link at the same time so its hard to quatinfy just homw time I will spend only on the idler. It did however take me 3 months to find the kit that I bought AT least 2 yrs ago. I tried to put it in last year but couldn't find it when I had the steering about so just moved on.....its like an albatross for me anymore just trying to do the simpliest things

I have them on 2 of my 66's along with the quick steer setup and they're great. I am putting one on a 68 but, that's a whole new mod game that will be going in there.
