I've been gathering parts for my roller block to go into my '65 fastback, I will be using the top loader and original bell housing. I'm looking for ideas on the clutch. I want to make sure, before purchasing, that a 5.0 clutch will fit under the '65 bell.

Being that I don't have the top loader with me at the office..can somebody help witht the spline count on a top loader? I've had great success with Centerforce clutches and will most likely go that route again...as for which one??? I had the Centerforce (one) in my stock '88 (had 3.55's in the rear) and it worked very well.

Don't forsee this engine build going beyond 300 HP...thoughts so far are using an F303 cam, forged flat-tops, 1.6 roller rockers and the 289 heads...carb--who knows. I've got a 1.12 venturi four bbl, not sure if it will be enough though.

thanks fella's!

I am 99% sure the 5.0 diaphragm clutch works fine, but it works better if the flywheel has the 5.0 alignment dowels for the pressure plate. It's no big deal to use an early style 3-finger clutch with no dowels, though. That's what I have. If using the stock z-bar, you will also need a linkage adapter bracket for the 5.0 block.

The small shaft Toploader has a 10-spline input same as a T5.

I'm using a 10.5 inch 5.0 clutch and centerforce dual friction p/p in a late 60's Mustang bell with a Toploader 4 speed in my 89 Ranger. It's currently behind a mild roller 5.0. Only difference is it's actuated with a McCleod hydro T/O bearing. Pretty sure others have used the same setup with the old mechanical linkage without issues.
