as the title says, just wondering cause the guy i bought my heads from gave me a set of roller lifters and i was just wondering if they were stock or not (well, i mean, if roller lifters were standard equip. than chances are he just gave me stock lifters)
The switch to everything being roller cam started in mid-late 86 with LTD/GrandMarquis; the 87 Crown Vic shortblock I picked up is running a roller cam, and is an XXX block. Trucks and vans were more inconsistent in their use of roller cams, and it may have been 1989 before they were ALL roller cammed.
Be aware that a lot of post-87 Fords that aren't running a roller cam ARE using the roller block, and if you drill and tap the holes in the bosses for the hold-down plate, and add the plate and the lifters, Volia!

The roller cam/lifter started with the 85 5.0L 5 speed mustangs (the automatics had flat tappet). I wouldn't say they had everything roller, because they didn't come with roller rockers (except the '93 SVT Cobra)
