Hey everyone, I have a 2003 Mustang GT 4R70W. I am in the process of planning everything that I want to do to the car. I know I want a Kenne Bell 1.7 and run 9psi. I am debating on whether or not to upgrade the internals. I have heard from Kenne Bell and other people that they will be fine. I have heard from other sources that I will be on borrowed time. I was wondering what youll would suggest? I dont know much about the internals of mustangs but if you know any good products, where to get them, and stuff like that it would be very helpul. Also I was wondering how much that generally cost to get installed? THANKS for the help

You are on borrowed time any time you run something the factory engine wasn't designed to handle, nitrous, supercharger, turbo, etc. A conservative tune will help, but if some part of the fuel system fails, you bounce off the rev limiter, get some bad gas, etc, you're probably in trouble. Lots of guys get away with it for thousands of miles, but I personally wouldn't take the chance if I could spare the cash.

Anyway, VT Engines, MMR are just a couple of sevearl companies to look at for rotating assemblies. VT has a forged shortblock for I believe $3495 which is good for up to 700hp, plenty more than your KB @ 9psi will be putting out. They are a little busy right now, I think 12 weeks is the last lead time I heard for a shortblock build.

You can also take it somewhere obviously and have them do a forged rebuild, but it's probably going to cost you more to do it that way then to just get a new shortblock with the stuff already built, and do the installing/removing yourself.

Also MMR has a few nice SB's that can handle at least what the KB will throw at them running 9psi. On a budget I would get the MMR Street Mod 900. It is basically the same setup I have and is good to about 600. cost 2799.

The MMR MOD 900 is rated to 900 hp and 8k rpm thats why the call them a 900. Chris at MMR told me they have taken them to 866rwhp. They have a mod 600 for 2199
