the C&L would make a good addition, but the blower itself will make more power than the stock block can handle.

i am finishing up the details right now, getting things in line for the purchase. i will update the thread when i order.

Just how much power are we talking about here?
That seems like a tiny supercharger compared to other ones out there. Must be one hell of an efficient design.

rotrex makes several sizes. the C38 is used for S197s. it is capable of 600+rwhp here are some specs from their website:
C38 3Lt to 6Lt Engine Capacity
300hp to 630hp Engine Output*
90,000 rpm Maximum Impeller Speed
1 : 7.5 Gear Ratio
*power output is a general guideline, achieved power is application dependent.

the koenigsegg ccx uses two rotrex units to make 800+hp with a 4.7L engine! the efficiency rivals turbos, with up to 98% efficiency! Rotrex's website claims 98.4%. http://www.rotrex.com/pdfs/Rotrex_Technical_Datasheet_C38_Range_V4.0.pdf

i am excited to see what it puts down. Forced Air Performance took an 08 Bullitt to SEMA and it put down 500+rwhp. FAP said that after 10 dyno pulls, they could put their hand on the blower unit comfortably, it runs that cool. thats too much for me to trust the stock engine to handle. i know some have been lucky (like anthony) but i prefer to play it safe. I may have to install a different pulley to decrease the boost, depending on the numbers it lays down.

Don't you already have some Underdrive Pulleys for your car? That should slow down impeller speed a bit and reduce boost. This sounds promising. So far I think I'm torn between a TVS unit or a Rotrex (with upgraded C&L Intake).

the under drive pulleys will be replaced with this:

Hi - I was checking out forums and saw this thread so I thought I'd join and add my 2 cents.

I've had a rotrex supercharger since July of last year. On the dyno, it made 465 rwhp and 436 rwtq on a safe tune at 9-10 psi. I've had no problems with it at all. I do, however, recommend adding a GT500 fuel pump. There is a video of my dyno on my cardomain page if you're interested (link below).

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

welcome, becca! i am familiar with your car, as it is about the only one on the net running this set up. is this the car that heath mentioned was going to be running 12psi soon?

There was a kid here in town with a custom Rotrex set up on an early '90's Cavalier Z24. Still had the stock 3.1L under the hood. Ran 12.4's spinning the tires through the first 60ft.

Hi - yes, we have the 12 psi pulley, but we haven't installed it yet. We may just build up the engine and go bigger. I'd love to get an aluminator block and go up to 15 psi or higher. It just takes money. lol

Very very nice. I came thiiiiiis close to getting that Rotrex system. I was just not sure how my warranty would hold up, but in the end my Shaker is doing me fine Hmm the Trex is a lot quieter than I thought it would be. I know its based off turbo tech, but man it is quiet.

Nice work. Very nice indeed.

Back from the dead... does anyone know if this went anywhere? Did bigcat ever pull the trigger on this setup?

I was reading up on the Koenigsegg and it reminded me of this thread. So far I have been pretty gung ho about going for an ATI Procharger but I remembered the Rotrex and its efficiency.
