Rough at about 2400 RPM

I have a 68 coupe, 289 with 2V that seems to run rough only in a relatively narrow RPM range, about 2300-2500. It does it both in park, and while driving. It is not real noticeable if I accelerate or decelerate through it, however if driving and I stay in the the RPM range it can be pretty noticeable.

So far I have checked/replaced/adjusted the points, condenser, timing and carb and although running better, it is still there. The carb is a champion that was put on by the previous owner, which I was thinking of replacing anyway, is it likely a carb problem?

I just bought this Mustang a few weeks ago and am still finding my way, any help would be welcomed.

Check the harmonic balancer and see if the outer ring has separated from the inner ring. This will cause it to get out of balance and may cause the problem you describe. Also check to see if your exhaust system is contacting the body of the car anywhere.
