I found these while searching the interweb.
I was wondering what you guys thought of them.
They are Full length, Round Tube and run alongside the SubFrame instead of under them.

They lack the cross brace that bolts to the floor pan. Is this a problem?

Give me your input.........................................

wow, no... not on my mustang. few things to note. square will always prevent flex more then round due to its geometric strength of having vertical side walls. second going underneath the cars subframes, while hurting ground clearance slightly, is the best way to prevent flex, as its effectivly making the subframe TALLER and adding more of a sidewall length (again the reason for the square) that prevents flex.

also looing at the design it looks like its supposed to be welded only at those flat supports that go on the bottom, which will be where the flex would be anyhow... if this is the case (didnt see any install instructions to prove me right or wrong) then you might as well not have them as the welds will either brake or the tabs will bend.

not trying to hate on them, but come on.... if you are spending 130 on those then just drop the extra 10 and get the MM XL FLSBCs.... thickest, longest, and square. plus every torque arm on the market can bolt up to square brace... which you might not care about.... but look at it this way, why would the torque arm prefer the square over the round.. shape? or just that if going for true solid suspension they figure you would o with the square... font believe me, shoot a line to MM then, ask what Matt has to say.

on a side note, i think Tom sold his mustang and has an audi now.... had a post a couple weeks ago that mentioned he no longer bleeds ford blue (sold the car) and is playing with quattro (audi's AWD system), so, there is the chance we will never see him again.

I did a inside frame connector(2''x3''),and IMO it's a lot better,no ground clearance problem and it's really strong.I have no more rattle and i did not hear my body flex anymore. It's a little more work but it's worth it.

What are you high? Have you ever tried to bend a 2" round steel pipe? If square tubing so much stronger then round why doesn't everyone running a roll bar have square tubing?

I have a set of 2" round roll bar tube subframes on my car and and I will garranty they are stonger then any other flat bar subs out there. They sit higher then the factory H and my aftermarket X pipe. No loss of ground clearance at all.

With a little fabrication they could be made to work with any torque arm out there. Not that most Mustang owners go that route. Since I have had them on almost 3 years now there is no body flex at all, none zip, nadda. I know a few guys who have the MM type and the body flexes more then mine does.

you haven't driven many cars have you?
can you explain it to those of us who don't understand, that would be great

i guess i'm not a "true" enthusiast either because i'd rather drive a Z06 or a new GT40, or an S4, or an LS2 GTO, or an S60R, or an RX-8, or a 350Z or a...

I think it's called ignorance. Sure I love my Mustang, but if I had the chance to buy a better car i.e. z06, i'd do it in a heartbeat.

Sure i would love to have a lot of the other cars. What i'm saying is is that if i had another car, i would still have a Mustang no matter what.

Back to the topic of this thread - If the SFC is made good with strong materials, either round or square will be alright. But i would lean more towards the square ones because they have the braces for the floor pan.

roll bars are a good bit different as you are looking for curves and bends to contour the lines of the interior, for space savings sure its the prime choice, and i dont knock that at all. when it comes down to it bottom line, round or square, its all about metal type bend style, and wall thickness. a paper thin square will bend before a super stout round pipe... standard dynamics. however, from the point of view of supporting the subframe square, to fit the current design fully and equally across the entire width and length that will allow for the welds to span with their supplied bracing (refrencing MM) vertically over an equal contact patch of both the subframe and the brace. also with it being the same width, both the subframe and connector allow for suplimentary welds across the seam, not only at the supplied bracing, in a zipper style.

break it down however you want. for the SFC application its about contact area and strength.... dont forget part of it is the size of the tube (both round and square), more metalin the same area of a squared area... believe what you want, buy what you want. is anything better then stock... probably so... but why spend the money for less upgrade then you should be getting?

as far as tom goes. i am not 100% sure about this, as nobody has seen him to get a true answer from him. i am only speculating based on his wordings, it makes sense though. audi has always been a top competitor in road races... and guess what tom enjoys.... thats why he was the suspension guy, you dont get good handeling suspension for the drag track. personally, if he did go audi, i'm happy for him and know he will easily blow my doors off, full built MM gear or not.

Agree 100%..

When I say mustang>everything, its meaning direct replacement. Ill take other cars YEA, but neither mustang will ever be replaced

BOT, I hoestly dont think much stress will be placed on the SFC....round wont bend, square wont bend. If they are both full length, your not going to be able to feel any difference...but the round will be lighter . Every little bit helps as far as that goes.

So it seems like Some people like them, some people don't.

I guess I am still leaning towards purchasing them.
