Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a 2007 Roush 427R and was wondering if this is a good deal or not. It has 76k miles (insane amount of miles for a 3 yo. car) but I can pick it up from a friend that owns a dealer for a wholesale price of 17k. Is this a good deal? Online I found the average cost of these things around 30k but with only 10-20k miles. My knowledge on mustangs is great but not with the S197's. Thanks for any input!

I did a KBB value for a regular 2007 GT with 76k miles on it and it came back at $19k which seemed high but I would say that $17k for a 427R sounds like a pretty good deal. The spark plugs may give you a hard time if they have never been changed though. See if you can have the dealership change the plugs for you before you pay for the car so they will be responsible if they break all the plugs off when they change them. That should be about the only maintainence issue that you should run into.

I assume that the plugs are really hard to change in the S197s? I currently own a 98GT and can change the plugs pretty easy. Either way I'll know more about it this week and will definitely see about getting the plugs changed. Thanks for the input!

It is not difficult if they will come out without snapping off in the head. Ford used a crappy plug design in the S197 and they tend to get stuck and snap off which can be a huge pain to get out.
