Roush 427R in a 68 Stang!!!

I just ordered a Roush 427R which is a Dart 351W block. I’m unsure on which motor mounts to use. I know there are three components to the mounts: engine mounts, insulator, and shock tower mounts. There was no option in 68 for a 351 engine, so when I go to order my 3-component engine mounts, what do I get? Any ideas?

No offense, but what do you mean by "sounds tight"? The 351 is smaller than the 428 that some 68's came with, right?

yes, the 351W is "smaller"

a guy a while back dynoed one of those in his Cobra kit car,put down 480 ish

all you need are the standard small block mounts. the 351w mounts are in the same location as the 289/302. simple bolt in.

I plan on dropping a real 428 bigblock in my 68.

For an engine pumping out the sort of power that beast makes, I would suggest Total Control or Ron Morris engine mounts. Pricey, but factory mounts won't live long with that engine. Nice choice if you have the $$, which you obviously do since its ordered. Let us know your impressions after putting it through the paces.

anything that works for a SBF...i dont think stockers are gonna last...unless you drill it and slap a bolt in it.

So, tell us, (who are confused now), what engine in what car do you want mounts for ? 428 in a 68, 427 in a 68, or a 351W based stroker in a 68 ? bnickel had it right for a 351W based stroker, you just need regular small block mounts. If your question was about an FE series 427-428, you need the block brackets, frame brackets and insulators.

I am going to put a MII suspension in and then i want to put a 428FE motor in. I don't know if it'll work with those three things. Theres no mounts that i can bolt onto the MII with will work with a 428?

if you have the skills to install a MII then you should have the mechanical inginuity (sp?) to fab up some simple motor mounts...

when putting in our 4.6 into a 66 with a MII we used the heidts motor mount kit (that bolts to the MII crossmember) then took a stock 4.6 mount, chipped out the rubber and bolted that metal piece to the bracket...

nope... its pretty easy though. get the heidts motor mount bracket kit and then you fab up the other 1/2. Atleast it takes about 1/2 the work out.
