Hello,
Im after a little advice, im in the UK and have owned my Roush Supercharged 2006 Mustang for about 2 weeks now, and i love it. However last night i attended a meeting with some friends at a rolling road, i put the Stang on, and the figures were.

360.5hp @ Flywheel
297.9hp @ Wheel
285.7 ft-lb Torque

Peek Power 297.9hp @ 6100RPM

Are these figures under what they should be or are they about right? is the quoted 415bhp with a Roush Supercharger @ Flywheel or @ the Wheels?

Many thanks.

The 415 rating should be for the motor. Figure you lose about 17% to the wheels which would put it around 345.

Thanks for your reply mate,

So with that in mind, my figures are low, around 45bhp low! Only mod i have done is have a Borla exhaust fitted last week... so its a stock GT with Roush Supercharger, and Borla cat-back..

Hmm

Hey Power4, thanks for your reply,
Im going to call Roush in the morning see what they suggest, the blower has only been on for about 4 weeks the dealer told me. Another thing, it felt like it lost power after the Borla exhaust went on, at least i THINK it felt like it lost power! if you get me...

It shouldnt need a tune after a cat-back should it?

Thanks again.

The brand and type of "rolling road" is also a variable to consider. The figures you posted seem low when using expected Dynojet 248C figures for a Roushcharged car as a reference.

If Roush claims 415 bhp with their set up I would think 360 rwhp is right on the money depending on the particular dyno it was measured on considering 12%-15% loss through the drivetrain. The 17% loss figure would pertain more to an automatic tranny vehicle.

another issue to consider is the altitude where you are located. I live 5300ft above sea level and I would probably produce similar results. Also as stated above, it depends on the "rolling road". Different ones produce different numbers. As far as custom tunes go, you should still see numbers closer to what Roush claims with the stock tune that comes with the car. A custom tune should only push you higher.

Also, a tune is not required with the cat-back but you can lose a little low end power.

I'd stick with contacting Roush and also find if the HP numbers typically run low from that model of dyno you were on. What was the brand?

Hi
The 360bhp figure i posted was @ the flywheel, not rwhp, 297bhp was my rwhp figure.

In relation to which Dyno it is, this is the blurb from there website.

"Our Dyno is a new American Land & Sea’s DYNOmite Chassis Dynamometer System which combines the latest sophisticated data acquisition electronics with DYNO-MAX 2000™ This Dyno is a 2 wheel drive system that can accommodate 4 wheel drive vehicles with a selectable transmission system including Nissain Skyline GTR"

According to what I've read the Roush supercharged stangs come from the factory putting down between 360 -370 rwhp.

Thanks BlackSheep,

360/370bhp eep.. makes my 297 look terrible!

I spoke to roush uk, they insisted that my figure was down to not being able to properly dyno a supercharged vehicle.. and you wont be able to produce the 415bhp @ Flywheel figure on a dyno..

So im not sure where to go from here...

Well then, that's pretty sad. I misread the post Are you sure about that?

I operated a Land & Sea Dyno at a shop I used to work for. They normally run "loaded" like a Mustang Dyno, but you can disable that to make it read like an DynoJet. if it was loaded, then those number might be right.

Nick

It would definitely be lower but 60~rwhp lower? That seems a little extreme to me. I could be wrong but that just seems a little extreme to me.

Its definatly got the Roush S/C installed, i have the roush pipe going to the airbox from the supercharger etc, and of course that lovley supercharger whistle!

I think im going to go to another Dyno place this evening, they have a Dyno Dynamics machine, im going to get a few runs on that.

I will post printouts of both the first run Sunday, and this evenings runs when i return home!

Cheers.
