Royal Purple?

Is it really a good synthetic? or is amsoil better? i heard it has moly in it which can gum up things over time? is this true?

Not sure about their engine oil, I use the gear oil though. It seems pretty good, it has the friction modifier for limited slips in it already.

most any oil has a blue hue (sp) when it burns.

i use royal purple and redline in most all of my vehicles.i like it and have never had a problem with it.i don't care much for amsoil though.

you should find that any quality approved oil - synthetic or conventional, will do quite well. it comes down to personal preference.

a guy I work with who seems to be a "know it all" type and also sells Amsoil oil tried telling me that Royal tested out as the worse synthetic oil out there, Im calling BS, but can anyone add to this. I have been using Royal Purple with great results.

i've been using royal purple and redline for the last 4 years with good results.i used redline in the front and rear diffs,transfer case and engine in my 88 jeep p/u.i got an honest 2mpg more.thats worth it in my opinion.i don't like amsoil because they try to tell you that you can run it a year before changing it.i've seen 3 engine failures because of this.2 had less than 50k on them.one was a 4.3 bravada,a 5.2 dodge conversion van and a 3.9 dakota p/u.inside all three of these motors looked awfull.if you change it every 5 or 7k miles then it probably won't be that bad but i wouldn't try to run it a year.

thats really my mine gripe with amsoil.i'm not saying it's bad,but the marketing of it is just not right in my opinion.i don't believe in leaving any oil in an engine that long.the local amsoil rep trys to tell people that you can leave it in that long as long as you change the filter every so often.non car people believe this.they don't even check the oil because they believe it's magic.this is why i've seen several engine failures with amsoil.they try to tell you that if you have an engine failure with amsoil because of amsoil they'll replace the engine but they didn't stand behind any of the three.
