RPM needle acting funny

When I'm driving hwy or interstate at 50+ mph and esp at 70+ the RPM needle acts funny. It will randomly go up 500-1000 rpm and drop back down real fast. It will do this 3-4 times in a row sometimes sometimes it will do it just once, and it does it every few minutes. Car doesnt stutter or feel like its losing power or anything. Any idea what this might be?

I had the same problem on another stang. Usually just that gauge on its way out. keep an eye on it, I am willing to bet it will get progressivly worse. Easy to replace. Grab a cluster off ebay it that turns out to be the problem.....

well my odometer already isnt working so it could be the case. How do you replace gauge clusters?
