RTV On Intake Manifold??

I keep getting a weird feeling that where my upper intake meets the lower there is a small air leak... Same with around the TB and the TB adapter. The Edelbrock instructions say to install it dry, but I was wondering if anyone here used any type of RTV or Sealent?

I rarely use gasket sealer on any gaskets myself

I assume you installed a upper/lower paper gasket in between?

Make sure connections coming out of your upper intake are allowing it to sit down on the lower, flush.

I have heard people installing RTV to seal it, but it is something I wouldn't do for a cheap gasket price, that cost the same as the RTV tube.

You could pull the upper intake, and check for flatness on the upper and lower intake.

Same for the throttle body. What kind of throttle body do you have? If it is whistling, it could be the throttle body.

I've done it and dont recommend it. Next time you pull them apart you have to get a new gasket and spend the time to scrape that junk off. If you have to, use two gaskets...that has also worked for me.

Not really needed but a little rtv wont hurt just dont glob it all over the place use sparingly.

The squeeze of the RTV may also push it in to the ports...
