Run front brakes on the rear?

I am all over this. Down side is cost. It is possible. I am working on doing a set of 14" fronts and 13" rears. Both using Grand Turismo Brembo 4 piston calipers.

You actually need two calipers in the rear. One for the e-brake, and one for mad stopping. You could save some money, and do a line lock and use that as your e-brake though. Not sure how safe that would be, but the idea is there.

To get someone to design a auto-cad program would be 500-1500 bucks depending on complexity. We already have one for the kit we are working on. Probably wont have both done until next year due to brake kit costs, but I have pics of car that is complete with both. PM e-mail addresses, and I will send them to ya.

The short version. It will be very expensive to do......

Damn i was thinking it would be more of a plug and plan type thing.

There's very little point in upgrading the rears beyond a good set of pads and rotors to extend durability, the rears are responsible for keeping the car straight under braking, nothing else.

Rear brakes normally provide at the most 5% of the braking effort, due to weight transfer, when the fronts come on, the weight comes off the rear, reducing load-based traction. If you go bigger on the rear, all you'll end up doing is flatspotting the rears more often than you want to.

Looks like the brake kit is 3750ish. Includes Brembo 4 piston calipers, Mclaren e-brake calipers, two piece drilled rotors, and pads for all four calipers. To get the bracket made will be about 550 since all we have to do is load a program into the machine and start it up. You will also need SS lines, which are 109, and a new rear diff and while your at it upgraded axles. You need a torsen T2 or T2R diff to make the kit work. No more rear floating caliper, its now a fixed caliper.

Anyhow, as for the rear brakes not doing much, thats true - stock. After driving a Mustang with this upgrade I HIGHLY disagree its not worth it. It felt like a roller coaster coming to a stop. Smooth, and really fast. Need to get a proportioning valve to make it work correctly though.

On the plus side, this kit is a bit larger caliper than the Cobra R kit, a way better rotor, and still can fit under certain 17" wheels in the 13" version.

Gonna sell the stuff. I don't have the stockers anymore though. Right now I have the Cobra R kit up front, still stock in the rear. I won't have the brakes done until next year some time though. I am doing new wheels, and the 14" fronts and 13" rear brakes. I should be done with it by October 07. If you are still interested by then, I will have about 1000 miles more on the stuff than I do now. LOL

I still have the same number.

Ok cool im graduating soon but im gonna be doing a lot of engine work to get this 347 in. Ill give u a ring when i have a chance.
