I have read on here somewhere and have been told that running race fuel will destroy the o2 sensors on my car. Is that true?

I've never heard much on O2 sensors but they do wreak havoc on catalytic converters. It is a waste of money if you don't have the tune to use it though and if not then it'll probably make you slower.

Well I got rid of the cats a long time ago so thats not a problem. I was just worried about the o2 sensors.

My logic tells me there are lots of fuel injection race cars out there running race gas and they all have O2 sensors. But then again i'm a carb guy so that is just my hunch.

Timing is an issue with race gas as well

A lot of Race Fuel contains Lead, Lead destroys O2 sensors and catalytic converters. In both instances it bonds to the substrates of the components, coating them and preventing their ability to react. If you want to use Race Fuel, make sure it's unleaded.

I think that's a geographical thing. They used to sell 94 around here but it's dropping off lately. The extra 10 cents really isn't worth it over 93.

High octance fuel will rot your exhaust components faster too.

The highest we have here in SW PA now is 93 octane. Sunoco used to carry 94 but they stopped doing that about a year ago for some reason. You can buy race gas here too at the airport, I don't know much about it but my cousins got a mustang with a 396W that they run race fuel in all the time. I think they told me it's around 116 octane, but I could be mistaken. About 5 or 6 bucks per gallon.

The Sprint Cup and lower series have run it since last year. The only thing in an engine that would require lead are the valve seats and hardened seats fix that. It makes zero sense for anybody to use leaded gas these days.
