My dad has a 94 cobra with a supercharger on it. The issue is that he is loading the injectors up while it sits at idle. It will stall without some quick work with the throttle. The car has been dyno tuned at a respectable house but, was tuned a little to rich. My question is, can he advance his timming to correct the problem of loading up the injectors? He has a boost retard controller on the dash. If he advances the timming by the dist. and uses the boost retard to control detonation at higher rpm's will the computer try to compensate for the loss of fuel and thus defeat the advanced timming?

Better to run a tad rich vs. lean although has he considered adjusting the fuel pressure down just a bit? Messing with the boost retard isn't wise to control a rich concern unless it's not set right to begin with. What size blower / amount of boost is he running? What's his fuel pressure at? What're his spark plugs gapped at as well? Boost retard is to control timing with boost and should have little to no effect on his fuel concerns.

Does the Cobra run an FMU? If so you can change the diaphram in to lean the car out a little under boost. If it's too rich at idle then you need to retune it or get bigger injectors and run less fp alltogether. The ECU will not adjust the fp....that's what the fp regulator does.

I just talked to my dad this morning and he said he does not have a adjustable fuel regulator. He said the fuel pres. gauge is reading 32psi. He does have the FMU that came with the vortec kit. He has the A-trim with a 8lb. pulley. He said he has a laptop and some tuning software from Ford Motorsports that everyone seems to not be able to figure out. I think he said it was the EEPC or something close to that. Does anyone know of this software or where I can find info. on how to use it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds as if your dad has all the tools and just needs a little "how to" that would be difficult to provide over the net (even if we DID know his specific tuner setup). My suggestion would be to have him take it a dyno and let a tuner walk him though the basics and get him a good base tune.
