Well, I recieved my [Fox] Tokico HP's and MM plates today. And my springs should be here any day.


For those of you using Tokico & MM's .... how did you configure the spacers? There are 4 thin one's and 4 thick one's with the plates. I just want to know what works .... so I don't have to "trial & error" and keep taking the plates back off. Also, I have a Cervini's Cobra R hood. The Tokico's are Fox struts. I shouldn't have a clearance problem, right?


I also wanted to ask about BUMPSTEER. Why have I seen people say to get offset rack bushings? (maybe I have misunderstood .... just asking) According to MM .... that makes bumpsteer worse (with stock K member, or the like).

As far as the spacers, I think it depends on the drop. I have pro-kits (about 1.5") and put one small spacer below and the rest on top of the plates. I have no clearance issues with my setup.

are you using 94+ struts, or fox struts?

Yeah i have Steeda springs which is like 1.25-1.50 and i used one small one on the bottom and the rest on the top. Offset rack bushings will only help a little bit with bump steer. You get bump steer because when you lower a car you change the geometry of the tie rod end and the A-arm. You want the A-arm and the tie rod end to be parrallel. It is best to fix this with a bump steer kit like steeda or mm.

See J.P. .... that's what I was talking about. I've always heard the same. But, according to MM (I have it here in writing), offset rack bushings will definitely make bumpsteer WORSE. The latter of what you said is right on, quote for quote.


Another good thing ..... MM claims their C/C plate design eliminates MOST of it, but not all. I guess I'll just have to install them & see how bad it is.

I am running that setup on my car. To tell you the truth I forgot how I put the spacers. I will check and get back to you. I think you will like the setup. Are you running the adj. struts. Mine aren't fox struts but I also have a Cervinis hood, no clearance problems here.

hurmm i put offset rack bushings in when i did my front coil-overs, i dont notice bump steer too bad but i get it sometimes, is this true, should i buy a new set of stockers and take these out?

Sorry, I forgot to mention this. Yeah, I am using the fox struts and sn95 shocks.

I love em. I am not REALLY into handling i just wanted a nice drop that would tighten things up a little too. I got it, it dropped me almost exactly 1 1/4" which is just where i wanted it. Its firm but not kidney pounding. I can still go over speed bumps without worrying im going to tear up the bottom of my car. Later on i will probably upgrade the shocks/struts but keep the springs for sure.

Awesome I was leaning torward them but no I'm going back in forth with the pro kit. With my 18's I don't need a big drop to fill the gap, thanks for the input WD....

after you get the mm plates installed, tell me of they make noise. I have tokico hp struts and PR cc plates, and there loud as hell, sounds like someone hammering on my front end over bumps.....if the mm's are nice, i may have to get a set.

I used MM's aluminum rack bushings and the steering couldn't be any better. The car tracks perfectly now. I need to replace my worn steering shaft with MMs unit to cleanup the little bit of play in the wheel.

A quality alignment a couple times a year is easily equal to the benefits from the MM rack bushings. If that's not done right, all the parts in the world might not fix bumpsteer or other problems.

Another vote for aluminum rack bushings.

Okay Kyle .... what kind of noises do you hear?


I have a very slight noise. It's like a high pitched squeal ... but it's so quiet it's almost unheard. Of course my exhaust drowns it out alot. It's almost like a metal to metal chatter.


I have a good inkling what it is, though. I believe it is the metal strut spacers that are below the strut tower. There was some play in them after the install. Other than that, there is no other problems. I don't see how the plates could actually chatter .... so I highly doubt that is it.


Should there be play in the spacers?

i have hotchkis struts with cc plates and steeda bump steer in the front and steeda springs all the way around toxicos in the rear with bilstien quads with maximum motorsports uppers and lowers steeda adjustable sway bar in rear also, I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A MUSTANG THAT RIDES AS NICE AS THIS ONE! (er when it does drive i mean)
