I'm planning on using Por-15 on my cowl area. Everybody I've seen use it looks great. But I have never seen the rust before the process begins. Does what I have look treatable or is this going to be a big job of sheet metal replacement. I haven't found any areas rusted through.
I've seen that a lot. We have a product in the marine industry called Corroseal. Ships get rusty due to the salt water so they put Corroseal on the rust which stops it from spreading. Plus you can paint over it. There has to be a product in the automotive aftermarket like this. If not try to find Corroseal, it's $50 a gallon.
I second the POR 15. Good stuff. Also check into rust encapsulator at www.eastwood.com. It comes in an aerosol unlike POR 15.
Thanks. I would prefer a spray can route I guess. This car goes for paint soon so I don't mind some overspray.
Mine looked just like that, I sanded the whole area by hand then hit it with rust encapsulator. That was 2 years ago and it still looks like the day i sprayed it
