Crap! I've just noticed my DD 2000GT is getting rusty. Just behind the rear wheelwell, both sides, i'm getting rust bubbles. I've looked around, but not seen others with same prob. Here in the Chicago rust is inevitable, i know, but I try to keep it clean, and it's even (supposedly) been undercoated. Anyone else got rust probs with their stangs?

Can you post a couple of pics? Rust is hard to get rid of eventually it will turn to swiss cheese I call it with all the holes.I would sand and paint that area to keep it from getting worse.

You gotta wax that stuff and keep it clean, definitely here in the midwest and on a rear wheel drive car.

It is going on 9 years old!

How are the door seams on the bottom of the doors after nine years of salt?

So far, my 97 seems to be holding up well. I always try to wash it after the major snow falls when it gets covered in salt.
The 88 has some bad rust around the sunroof, but the underside doesn't have a spec of rust! It is perpetually covered in oil from the various leaks and drips. Automatic rustproofing.

I have the same going on with the bottoms of my quarters. I'm planning a re-paint in the future though where I'll put an end to it. thats the only place I have any rust.

My 03 is my daily driver... I plow snow and have been driving the Stang to work where I spread Ice Slicer (which is almost as evil as salt no matter what the counties that use it say) every where since 2003.

The only rust that is on my car is the brake discs and the Mac Prochamber I had (within 1 year! which is why it's no longer on the car)

A good waxing before winter, and a decent rinse at least once a week as well as a undercarriage spray every now and then will do wonders. Obviously if it's gonna rust, it's gonna do it no matter how vigilant you are... But you can slow the process.

Sand the spots down and cover it with POR-15 that **** is awesome. It will hold up for a very long time and will stop the rust from getting any worse.

don't have any pics yet, maybe i'll take some this wk, so far only rust is around the inner lip of the rear fenders and bubbles forming on the outside of the fender behind rear wheelwell, doors still perfect. last winter had to garage it after driving in a snowstorm and got snowed into the garage for a month still caked in salt. probably when the rust took seed. This year I plan on garaging it early! I'll drive my crusty yj all winter. POR-15 is awesome, it's what holds my yj's floor in Oh, i'm in the portage park area. thnx.
