hey guys, i was looking around the internet for different video clips and i found this one here:

http://www.angelfire.com/ult/insaynez/videos/camaro_saleen.wmv

in this video clip is a street race between a supposed camaro and an S281SC. i couldn't believe after watching it twice that the stang lost. if you watch and listen you can clearly tell the stang was blown and giving everything he had, yet he goes down in flames. i will admit it looks as though the camaro got a tiny jump off the start but i find it unacceptable for the stang to just hang with the camaro and not win. the stang by no means gets beat down but good grief, i felt embarassed for the guy in the saleen. does anyone know the video? was that a camaro? and if so are we talking a modified Z or an SS? i mean, i want to know that when i pull up on some clown in a bow tie i don't have much to worry about. maybe i'm not giving the chevy enough credit?

Well after watching it several times I would have to laugh my a** off if that was a smoking. If you watch the pillar post of the camaro the stang holds tight with the camaro it never drops back a bit. When you add the reaction time since the camaro punched it first. They were pretty dead even. Typical chev 's to say that was a "smoking" they probably bragged all night about how they "wasted" a Saleen.
As for fast bowties and knowing what your up against well there is ALWAYS someone faster, I mean my ol' 78 mustang II will beat a SC Saleen, heck maybe the camaro had NOS who knows...and did you notice the little white ricer tried to get in on it? bwa ha ha ha he was wasted INSTANTLY lol gotta love white FRIED rice! lol ha ha haha

maybe it was the Camaro that was supercharged. The Saleen didn't have "supercharged" script or "SC" on it anywhere did it?

Not sure. just askin'?

yeah, i noted the gay coments at the end there....and as for the VW that tried to keep up with the big boys, i was surprised he stayed in the frame for the second or two that he did!! and i know that someone is always faster, that's why i see no point in going mad crazy with mods. however, call me biased, but i just feel like if i pull up next to joe schmo in his 97' Z28, it shouldn't be a big deal. i will say though that i have seen some mean f bodies. the mustang did hang very well and i agree that without the camaro jumping, it was dead even. of course there's no way to tell about tuning or mods on either car.

as for the camaro being blown, i don't think i've seen a blown f body in my day. let alone a camaro with a roots style blower...never even heard of that. i know the sound my car makes, and the stang in the video sounds like a roots blower to me. some of the other superchargers sound like damn turbine engines (not a bad thing) going down the road.

i like the mustang II by the way, now there's something you don't see everyday. i'd be like "whoa, what was that thing?" as i got dusted on my way to blockbuster!

you guys dont know much about the ls1. stock 281sc makes about 300-320 to the wheel, the stock ls1 does the same. and with simple bolt ons the ls1 can make upwards of 330 to the wheel. the ls1 does not have the suspension and heavy 18 inch wheels. hope he does not have a head/cam combo or he/she will easily beat you.

i don't know one way or the other if that camaro was running an LT1 or an LS1. the site that i saw the video on never said, it just stated that the clip was shot from inside a camaro.

more than likely a ls1, the saleen had the ripp kit on it. if it is an early to mid ninties camarro it would be an lt1, cant tell from the clip. it looks like they have about the same power the saleen was not falling back it was just right there.

How can you cal the chevy guys s when a probably fairly stock ls1 is keeping up with a top of the line super charged stang?

Because this is a MUSTANG board perhaps? Actually I would call any person that who simply gets a jump on someone else and then brags that they wasted a "Saleen" even to the point of posting it on the web. IMHO, He did NOT win the race he merely kept his nose ahead of the stang.

Stock LS1s can run pretty good. Highest stock traps have been in the 110mph range. Mine ran 109.46 stock. Gives you an idea of what they can be capable of.
