Saw that this morning too. Numbers check out in the book though. Number 14 has the last three of 542, is a coupe, and 1st owner was in FL. Doesn't mention on automatic though.
If its a clone they went to a lot of work on things like the pipes in the trunk, matching the numbers up, recaro interior, etc, but the wheels and the decals look like S***. Maybe its a flood car or something.

Let us know what you find, here's a couple of oddities that stuck out to me.
16 wheels??
The Saleen stripes and lettering on the side are all wacked, 1 short 1 long, even crooked, with the S A L E E N in the wrong spot.
The # 14 on the front is placed wrong also, almost hanging over the front of the car.
S A L E E N on the rear bumper is aftermarket.

Scott!

Don't do it! It's a rebody. Damn.

Those tubes are cooling tubes for the fuel tank. The EPA was coming down hard on Saleen in 99 to keep suel temps down. Joe at Chicane who was incharge of the cert and helped out with the cars at the time came up with this set up. Who ever swapped everything over in the car went to a lot of trouble. scott can handle it though. Hell it is red!

I don't think it is a rebody. I'll know when I get down there to pick it up. I know what to look for. The is no bad history on it. I plan on contacting the original owner in the morning.

s351

what do you mean by a rebody, how can it keep the same VIN, and also how would you transfer that sticker from the door jam, although i dont disagre with you there are a few items on this car this car that seam odd, one the price, 2 im thinking what he said in the top post as far as water damage, a few things also stick out, i thought the pipes for the fuel tank cooling were on the left side, mabey that was just the protype one, all the stickers seam very off, seams like its been painted recently, wrong wheels, the cuts in the carpet in the trunk seam wrong, front bumber looks like its not lined up corectly, missing trunk emblems, for more of a clue it just had paint, also some of the seals look very new, like the ones around the mirors, all and all you got a great deal for what it is if it is that, just looks to me like some one sprayed the outside and didnt jam it and took no effort in making the corect adjusments to the decals and such.

The pipes on my 99 come up on the right side. I noticed something odd on my #46. Mine has a S351 decal on the trunk where I thought it should have an emblem. #46 only has 3800 miles on it also. The only thing i have seen on the car that presents an issue is changing the trans back and the wheels. Originally it had gold powdercoated wheels on it! That is possibly why it doesn't have them anymore. The bumper number doesn't concern me since the car has been driven in south Florida. A dealer has the car. For him to rebody a car like this and then put it on ebay would be highly unlikely. It also impossible to get a door jamb decal off a car without tearing it. They are designed that way for the purpose of preventing vin swaps. Another thing to look at is the rivets that hold the VIN tag on the dash. Ford uses a special rivet that you cannot obtain.

It sounds like you may have found something to good to be true here, but I know you know your S351's! What a Rare car with the Gold Graphics and Gold Wheels as an option, like a Newer Version of Terry's car! Even if its an automatic now, I bet its a blast to drive! Hopefully when you see it in person its as good as it looked in the pictures!

Yeah, I think it will turn out to be a good deal. I've already got the 6 speed and I should have the wheels next week. Once together I will probably turn around and sell it. I need to finish putting my other 99 together. With it being technically a 2000 I really want to finish.

DAMNIT!!! How did that slip through my search filter? I have a few searches with eBay that notifies me when a 99' Saleen S351 comes up! I've been getting E-mails, but they have been for stupid brochures. Haven't seen a '99 vehicle come up in quite some time. Nice catch, definitely let us know all about it when you get it home!

I'm torn right now whether to continue looking for a '99 S351 or try and find an SA-10. Geeze, I'm not aiming too high, am I?

Yea, thats a great find, I'm going to be looking for a white S351 sometime this summer, hopefully something nice will come up. Ive seen some nice ones on PAS, kicking myself for not grabbing that one from Texas.

The rims are actually 17's. 16's won't fit. The bumper is factory just someone installed the stickers. It does need some attention. I already have everythign it needs. I bought the rims this morning and will have the trans next weekend.

Was it an Auto from the factory? Or did someone swap it over to an auto? If it was factory doesnt that make it more rare, for a Saleen S351 to have an auto option?

Scotty,

I just hope you go look at it before you give them the dough. The only reason I threw out rebody is a heard a couple of rumours about that bumper number.

If it's just been tampered with then for that price it's a steal.
