I am completely sold. The "Air Adjuster" made by Interactive Systems Technologies. 770 720 1259

It had been on the car but not properly adjusted. One qualified guy....a supercharger nut...and voila. Suddenly, the 1995 S351 drives like a real car. NO SURGING. NO STALLING! Finally. Now I just need to fix the header to pipe gasket and the right head gasket and it will be ............ready for the next problem! Just joshin.

This surge thing has driven me nuts for almost 2 years. Now the car is fun to drive! I had been prepared to spend at least 500.00 on a chip and tune with no guarantee of any results!!

Just wanted to share my news for other tortured s351 owners!!

Dan,
Was that the 95 or the 98 that was giving you all the trouble??? If it was your 95, I've been having the same problem with my coupe. Very irratic idle, surging galory and an occasional stall. I even have the same exahaust problem:shrug: It must be those damn white 95 S351's!!! Why didn't Marcus seem to have all these problems with his.....oh yeah, He Never Drove IT :rlaugh: :rlaugh: :rlaugh:

Yea,

My S351 never stalled on me even once. Never had idle surge. It is a problem with most of the 94-95's. The main reason though why my car didn't act up was I gave it to Joe at Chicane for a week after I bought it. Joe is the guy if you remember installed my motor, your motor, and Dan's motor in all of our car's back in 95 on Whatney so I'd say he has all the fixes.:D

Its the '95. The 98 drives with no drama. Weird start up when cold, and it holds the revs in between shifts, but I'm told that that is common for 2nd generation s351 cars.

The header to collector gasket blew out when tuning the air adjuster. When he began he ( revved it up) got a slight back fire and voila, it was gone. I have ordered two new ones from Kooks as they made the exhaust system. They had a small leak anyways so now they won't.

Now to fix the leaky head and I want to ponder the air fuel mixture. It runs rich, but I am liable to just leave it. It makes tons of HP and torque so if I were to lean it out...and gain 10-25 Hp, do I really gain anything other than a clean rear of the car? The car has so much low pressure behind the car that it sucks up dirt like a '60's Chaparral car! Oh, I just dated myself.

I would say for eratic idle...stalling, this is the best 150.00 you will ever spend. I had been so frustrated I had really thought of selling the car...but I think I will rethink that. At the tuning shop, a Camaro guy was all over the car and poo pooing the '03 cobra one bay away. In my view, the 03 Cobra is bullet proof fun, but the Saleens have a little panache.

The idle issue is a 94-95 problem. The 96+ cars had updated electronics and fuel systems. My prior car, 95-0027, NA coupe would not idle and then I bought the air adjuster and was thrilled. My prior car, 94-11, a SCed Speedster was perfect because it had the 97 upgrade.

How hard is it to change one over to OBD2?

Not that difficult however you need to make an extra portion of the wiring harness for the extra pins on the processor.
You need to of course pick up a processor also and get a tune. It can get pricey. That's what Saleen called their 97 upgrade.

I have a question as well. After this air adjuster is put on, has anyone got a reading from a Dyno stating if it is lean or not. When you buy this piece, I believe it recommends a setting to you based on your engine and injectors. WHen you set it to this setting, all is well, or appears well. A tune may be in order too as it still may running lean? Has anyone installed this, done a dyno and found out they needed some tweaking to make it perfect at the end of the day. I would think the best thing to do would be to adjust the air adjuster in conjunction with a dyno tune for optimal results. Either that or set it to where the idle is perfect and car is running perfect, and then dnyo tune the car with a burn chip or new computer program to ensure proper air / fuel mixture thoughout the RPM cycle???

If you could give more details, that would be helpful. When you put on the adjuster and then took it to the dyno, how was the car running (in detail) lean / rich, at what RPM's if it differed in different RPM ranges. Was it close to running perfect? If it was lean, how lean was it - a dangerous amount? What did the dyno shop do? Did they run it on the Dyno and were they able to use the adjuster to tune it perfectly? Was the adjuster set as good as possible and then they programmed your computer to finalize it? Any info would be great? P.S. What car was this on - a 95 Supercharged or Naturally Aspirated?

Thanks in advance

Car was a 95 NA coupe. It ran real rich. They put the car on the dyno and adjusted the air adjuster to lean the car out. No changes to the computer where necessary since the air adjuster fooled the computer by modifying the mass air signal sent to the computer..
