Ok, a full exhaust is going to be my first major mod in getting my 5.0 on its way to track duty. As its stands now the car is an auto. It will be converted to a 5 speed when funds permit, but i want to go on and do L/T's and a midpipe now. I was told most any L/Ts that will fit an auto will be able to carry over to a 5 speed. What L/Ts are out there for autos??? The only ones I really saw were Mac and Kooks  I was thinking a set of MAC L/T's with a Prochamber and I already have Flowmaster 40s. Anyone have any other suggestions or ideas??? Also, does anyone have sound clips of the above combo by chance? If so you can pm me or post them if you would like. I checked mustangexhaust.com and didnt see that particular combo listed. Thanks guys

My headers were sorta difficuly.. Jacked the motor up, and both went on from up top. Had to remove the starter and master cylinder, which lead to me getting a new master cylinder, but that's another story. I use a Dr. Gas Xpipe and Flowmaster 40s dumped, and the sound is straight mean..

I noticed a huge difference when the L/T's went on my '03. I went with BBK, but my '03 is a 5 speed so I had a lot more options with that. I was told that the shop has done several guys with Mac L/T's and Prochambers  Oddly enough BBK sent me the wrong mid when my L/T's went on. We spent 2 hours trying to find a midpipe to fit for me to drive the thing home and to work the next day. The shop had a spare Prochamber laying around, so we decided to try it since nothing else worked. Low and behold the thing fit perfectly to the BBK L/T's :rlaugh: Bolted it on and drove it home and to work the next day :D. The thing sounded  up to 3000rpms, anything after that sounded horrid :notnice:. Im hoping it would sound that way with the Mac's and Prochamber.

MadMatt, what kind of midpipe are you running???

I was thinking, depending on how you go about getting parts for the t5 conversion, it could actually cost less than a L/T and h-pipe combo (unlikely but possible) Ever thought of going that route and saving for the L/T's instead?

I have thought about it, but it would be a good bit cheaper to do this instead. My main goal for the car is to have 550+ at the wheels. I want to put a TKO in it, Spec Stage III, flywheel (undecided which one at the moment), not to mention the cose for install, pedal assembly, bell housing, shifter, ect...
Just the TKO itself will run me about $1300. The total tranny swap price Im looking at is a bit over $2100 best I can figure at the moment. I can definately have the L/T's and midpipe installed for well under that amount of money.
It wasnt going to be an issue money wise, but I just had to drop over $1000 on a new ac coil for my house, dont get me started :nonono:

I am some what mechanically inclined, but I am in no way a mechanic. Simple swaps I can do. Ive done Pulleys, and a CAI on it already. I might attempt the L/T install myself on the 5.0. Ive heard they are a good deal easier than the 4.6's. As for the engine/tranny swap, those are two pretty important pieces to get right :nice: Ill probably let the pros handle that task.

Had to jackup the motor to put in my Mac LT's as well. I have an auto. Mac sent the wrong headers first(5spd) so had to send back and get the right ones. They payed for shipping thou. I don't have prochamber but i have mac lt's and mac offroad hpipe and flows. I can get you a soundclip later if you want. I have a cam though so it sounds a little diff than it did when i had stock cam.

Ive never heard a prochamber but I would think it was much louder. If you have an engine flowing better than stock it would be crazy loud.

The thing about that cooky prochamber is that I think youd get just a few (at best) more hp- but at the expense of 5-10 tq
