I just put an E303 in my car and it now pulls pretty strong to ~6500 rpm. Is that to high for a stock bottom end 5.0? My car, for some reason or another, has no rev limiter so I dont really know how high is too high. Advice appreciated.

High. You have a 6250 rev limiter. Take her to it.... But get some new valve springs first.

Ok so is it normal for the tach to be reading 7,000rpm and still not hit the 6250 limiter yet?

I've seen it, and others have said they have too, so I think so. Has your car ever had a tune?

Yes, the tach can be that far off. Mine reads a little over 7 when hitting the 6250 rpm rev limiter. Just shift it when it stops pulling. It won't pull over 5500 with the mods you have, and that's not enough to hurt it.

It should pull to 5500-5700 alright. With the stock tach though, that 5500 could be 5000, who knows. Drive it until it stops pulling, or get a shift light!

a cam alone is not going to make your car pull past 5500 very much at all, get some heads and an intake to match and your car will scream right up to the rev limiter.

What's done to the car? Again, the tach could be off. The limiter is at 6250, and you would need a pretty serious combo to be near or over 7k if there was no limiter for some reason.

One time racing an 05+ stang on the hwy my pedal got stuck under my carpet at WOT and when I let off I didn't realize this, I pushed in the clutch and it shot straight to pegging the tach and bouncing off the rev limiter, so it was well over 7k on the stock tach, but really only 6250.

Waiting to shift until it stops pulling. Isn't that pretty bad for the engine. It's happend to me once and I thought I was gonna blow the motor. Although I do feel a tad better now that you guys say that the tachs are off.
