I think I may have gotten the bog out, I Installed a new ignition system, MSD 6AL and blaster coil, throttle response at 1500 is alot better, now I seem to be running out of fuel. 1st thru 3rd car pulls hard middle way thru 4th car shuts down I am runnig the stock fuel pump with the factory return line hooked up, I know injected cars need a return by I think I can plug the return on my carbed car and keep my fuel pressure, or should I just buy a better fuel pump.

So you are running a efi fuel pump to a carb? do you have a regulator? A carb psi in fuel lines should be around 7psi. the efi could be 40psi or more. Odds are if you are running that high of psi you will be wrecking your carb. My car was efi and i converted to carb. I removed my gas tank and the fuel pump. Installed a regular pick up in gas tank and installed a barry grant carb fuel pump close to the ank. I installed all new fuel lines 3/8 aluminum tubing. every thing is connected with 6 an fittings. My fuel line is a dead head style since i used the retun in the pickup to another fuel pump which goes to my nitrous system.

no I still got all the stock 83 stuff, I think I can just plug the return, maybe that will work I just wondered if anyone else has tried that and what the results are, I hate to buy a new high volume mechanical if I dont need it. Try to save money to stuff a 408 in my 94.

I see yes my carb set up is dead headed. You should have no issues besides perhaps fuel economy from blocking off the return. Another thing to consider is what hieght your floats are set. If they are set to low you can run out of gas at the top end.

I checked the floats they were fine, I just dont think the factory set up could handle the new power levels.

I never intented to get into this so deep, the old motor was worn and burning oil so I threw a roller motor I had setting around in it, after going to the track with my friends I was amazed to be only a few tenths behind them, they all run more extreme combos, like aluminum heads larger cams and more gear, If I can bust off a 8.0 I gottem covered, so long for my unmolested stock 83 GT. I just got the msd on and have a aluminum fly wheel and driveshaft to install. The exhaust will be next. I got some underdrive pullies to install too, you all know how the list goes on.

Well a holley mechanical fuel pump isn't all that expensive. The other thing to check perhaps is the fuel filter..... Maybe its getting plugged?

LOL I know how it goes. I was happy with 9.9 in the eighth then my bro in laws started racing soon i was closer to 9.0 flat. Then i got down to 8.2 N/A then came the juice and i saw 7.7's. i went to a proper track and to my amazement that 7.7 with traction was actually a 7.2. It bites yah and you just keep modding.

BTW the aluminum flywheel will tend to bog your launch down a little. Don't be surprised if your 60 foots go up with it. The reason is the lighter rotating mass holds less momentum when a force is put on it. a aluminum flywheel will drop to a lower rpm then a steel one on a launch. However that being said the aluminum flywheel will allow the engine to rev quicker.
