Same gas tank in 'vert?

Are the gas tanks the same in the '90 hatch and '90 convertible? Got a dead gas gauge in my 'vert and access to a hatch for parts, and thinking that a tank swap would be simplest (and best since the hatch tank has a 190 Walbro in it too!). Am I right that dropping the tank is about as complicated as pulling the cluster to test what's wrong, and that the sender is the more likely culprit? Or would I be better off pulling the gauge cluster first to test for sender voltage?

To answer the first question, yes all 90 fuel taks are the same. Actually all tanks are the same from 87-93.
