I have mixed emotions, love to have discs in front, but pedal just seems harder. I would like some suggestions on a power booster/master cylinder setup. Scarebird won't give me any ideas, i guess for liability purposes. They are many in the market, but want inexpensive swap. Thanks any info will help and please include, if brake pedal needs changing.

I recently went from all drums to discs in front and left the drums in rear. I heard the s10 single piston calipers that scarebird uses are a little pesky. So, will any booster / mc combo will do. Looks like the combo runs from 300$-400$ with the pedal. Does anyone have A better and cheaper idea for power brakes on a 68 v8 stang.

Thanx

Can i use a booster from a newer model mustang?

Hi

I'm not sure I follow where you're going with this. Are you thinking, you can simply go find a booster and stick it on the back of your existing M/C. NO! Unless you have the correct M/C as noted.
More importantly, the M/C itself, is designed to function and is specific to drum/drum. disc/drum, and disc/disc brake combos.
So, you buy the M/C to match one of these three combos. The booster is designed to work with it's mating M/C.
Happy Trails!

Thanks poppymod,
But what scarebird llc. Recomends to use 74 maverick mc for manual use, but i want to go with power brakes because the pedal is too firm. I was wondering if any power booster/mc that bolted on will do the job. Scarebird llc. has not helped me in any way to find the best match, for this setup. Can i use a power booster and the 74 maverick mc or is their a more reasonable solution. Can i use a 1967 disc/drum mc and a foxbody 2.3 booster?

It is. Disc brakes require higher pressure to operate.

I have had so much poor experience with non-OEM boosters that I avoid them. I use rebuilt originals whenever possible. Drake now has a repro of the OEM booster for 67-69, but I haven't tried it yet.

Prob'ly.

Brakes are possibly the worst place possible to go cheap. Unless a gruesome death doesn't bother you. Pay the money, go with the OEM type. BTW, later-model junkyard stuff doesn't fit, either.

Yes, the OEM 67-70 requires a pedal change. I don't trust the standard-pedal units anymore. Often they are too sensitive, or give a low pedal.

Hi,
Much agree with GT. If just so happens when I switched from a C4 to a T5, I could no longer use my 67 MC disc/drum w/booster. It is for sale, PM, if interested.

CSRP disc brakes have everything you will need in a kit that costs 524 dollars.
Before you buy the scarebird, google them and read about concerns of the thickness of the brackets.
The CSRP kit will give you the factory set up with 4 piston Kelsey hayes calipers. Best deal out there.
67-69 Mustang Disc Brake Swap

Hi, I think our friend already has the discs in front. He's just looking for a MC with/booster.
