lol. as stated i need a high ouput alternator. this is the threadi started trying to find out what kind of alternator it is. it is externally regulated and i need a 150+ amp replacement.

or here is my other option. ditch the externally regulated alternator and get a high output single wire alternator.

here is a drawing of my current alternator. and of what i want to do. if i do switch to the single wire high output what do i need to do with the green/yellow stripe and yellow white stripe wires that are going to the wells box? and they same color wires that leave the wells box and go into the wiring harness.

so school me on charging guys cause i cant even run my E-fan and headlights at the same time.

Simple solution - use a 94-95 3G Mustang alternator and do some simple wiring changes. The diagram says 85 or earlier, but it will work for any externally regulated alternator replacement.

The lt green/red wire tells the voltage regulator to turn on and feed power to the alternator field windings.

Use anything that only has power when the ignition switch is in the Run position. Be sure to use a low current fuse (1-3 amp) in the lt green/red wire. Under the hood of a EFI 5.0 Mustang, the ignition coil red/lt/green wire or any solid color red wire is a good choice.
