SCing a 96-98 GT w/PI Swap???

Forsomeone that knows crap about my finances, you sure have an opinion. Thing is, I am in a situation where it does make sense to get an older car for the next couple years that's already paid for.

pi swap put the comp at about 10.3:1, you could run a blower but at a lower boost level and your tune would have to be perfect.

if you pi swap, you would always have to run a intake from a 99-04, and yes, 98's have different fuel systems then 96-97's

Well the first thing I would do to said 96-98 would be a PI swap of H/blowerC/I...would likely try to go with Bullitt or Trickflow intake manifold. But with the Head swap wouldnt I raise the compression significantly, and from that point wouldnt I have to be EXTREMELY careful with a supercharger like a Vortech or Procharger?

My other question is after the PI head swap and blower cam install and aftermarket intake would I use a 96-97 or 98 blower or a 99-04 blower since the top end would all be newer, my gut says 96-97 or 98, is that correct?

I did a little research and 96-97 cars have different kits than 98s do for the supercharger, my understanding is the fuel system is different. Am I on the right track?

Do you honestly think you'll get enough out of your 2003 at this point to pay off the remainder of what you owe, cover the cost of buying a '96-'98 GT, perform a PI H/C/I swap and still have enough money to throw a blower into the mix? If anything you're going to end up further in debt that you are now and when all is said and done end up with a car that's worth even less money.

Do yourself a favour. Instead of pissing about with another stang, start making real payments (non minimum payments like I'm sure you have been doing up till now ) on the one you have and get it payed off, then reevaluate from there. I mean...honestly, your 2003 is already 6-years old....how many more payments and how much more money could you possibly owe on it? Unless you’re overly in love with the pre New Edge style, you’d be a fool to work your way backwards at this point.....especially if saving money is your primary goal.

Don't get your balls in a bunch Jared. You asked for opinions, you got them. Just because you didn't like the answer, doesn't mean we weren't trying to help you. Step back....take a breath.

You plight doesn’t make sense. First off, you state you’re looking to get rid of your ’03 to get yourself out of debt, yet you want to get right back into debt by buying another Mustang, and performing expensive modifications (modifications that BTW are going to cost you as much as the car itself) to it. For what it would cost you to do them, you could take a serious chunk out of what you owe and still end up with a newer car, worth more money in the end. You also wouldn’t need to worry about tearing the engine down to perform a PI swap, since your ’03 already has the PI gear from the factory. Your only expense at that point would be the blower, which you’re going to have to pony up the bucks for were to you get a ’96-’98 anyway.

Don’t jump down my throat because you’re having financial trouble. My advice was to help you avoid headaches and keep you with the best car for the money and avoid spending more money than you already are now, on an older car.

I suppose an explanation of my logic may be in order I am considering several options. My goals in life have changed. I used to just want the newest Mustang I could get at a fair price. This 2003 GT fit the bill as I bought it back in 2008 with only 51k miles on it give or take a couple hundred. Now my goal is to be debt free, this by no means is indicitive that I have financial problems, it is indicitive of the fact that I refuse to live my life in debt to anyone. The Mustang is my biggest source of debt outside of $15k in student loans. I have about $7k in savings, I plan to use $4-5k of that on a 96-98 Mustang, then I want to use the left over from the sale of the 2003 to build my savings back up again, and then start saving for the PI swaps and then EVENTUALLY a blower down the road, I am by no means trying to do it all at once. All of this involves NO NEW DEBT!!! I AM NOT taking out another loan for a Mustang...unless I find a killer deal on a 01 Bullitt or 03-04 Cobra...but I think I could pay cash for one of those in the next two years.

Currently on the 2003 my minimum payment is $330/mo, I however pay $500/mo, and plan to have it paid off in 24-26 months instead of the 48 months they set me up on. I am looking at my options. I could just dump $4-5k on the 2003 I suppose, but I would still have the payment every month, granted only for 12-14 months though...weighing t all out.

Sorry I jumped down your throat I was just upset you seemed to imply I cant afford to do crap for the car, and that just isnt true. I am trying to be careful with what I do.
