Scoop or Cowl Hood?

Maybe, but that wasn't what he asked for.

OoooooKaaaaay, then I stand corrected, he did not. What he asked for EXACTLY was "so now i ask you to find a picture of that perfect hood...wether it be a cowl or scoop."
so I still don't see mention of showing him a whole car then, if you are looking to be technical here and need things spelt out exactly instead of exercising what's implied with good judgement and deductive reasoning.

I guess to follow his ask literally, the perfect hood to me would be off the new Ford GT (40), so I'll see if I can find a pick of that "hood" to post up. It'll never work on a Mustang and will be totally useless to you, but a request is a request.

i dont know, i kinda like the looks of the big aero type lookin things, anyone have pictures of them, i know they are seen mostly on drag cars, but ya never know, some are street legal so if some of u have pics of them please post

Yeah I thought about one of those for a while...even ordered one and sat it on the hood to see if I liked it.

I think you all know what my decision was ;)

The cowl will actually function better because the cowl and the very front of the hood is where you get the most air pressure. Looks, I personally like the scoup on all the classic mustangs.

But the Ford GT hood is vented, not cowled or scooped :p

The point to the pic I posted was that you could put an eliminator/boss 429 scoop on any hood, classic stangs look fairly alike, so it would look fairly similar on an earlier year, and that smaller scoops aren't really worthwhile. I do however think the cowl on the black convertible a few posts back suits it more than a scoop would.

This raises a good point in my mind about the 69'/70' hood scoop then. Mine is an aftermarket add on, and one of my projects this fall is to modify the air cleaner and open the hood for some function. I do not have the directional lights hooked up in the back since I do not really like them, and so it leaves vacant slots which I was going to insert some type of grill mesh in. When everything is finally sealed up to the hood, technically then I should be able to pull in some cold air from both directions, right?

Edit: Oh, I just came across another one accidentally on a different forum.

So i guess that means u didnt go with the aero scoop i am assuming? what did u end up doing with it? selling it?

Yes, I sold the scoop and the hood it is sitting on in that picture (it had a hole in it from the PO who used a tunnel ram) instead I opted to build an invisible beast I could prob have more with a cowl or the aero scoop since I could run a blue thunder or a strip dommy intake..but...hey.....I like low-profile....think anyone would suspect this one at the light next to them as having a motor with over 500 N/A FWHP?

haha heck no, thats sweet! i wish i had the room under the hood though, just to crammed so i am adding a scoop to give some extra rooom, the body shop is going to figure out some way of keeping water at bay and making it a ram air system so it will be nice...maybe crashing my car was not so bad after all lol

A little off topic but, should the hood scoops be painted the color of the car, or should they painted black? I have a black vinyl top, and currently painting the car blue, but wasnt sure if I should paint the scoop black or blue? Any opinions or pictures???

Well, it was made most popular by the mach 1 body style, and since they all had the flat black hood, they were all pretty much flat black as well. It was an option on GT's and grandes, and I believe most of them had them painted to match. If you aren't trying to rebuild your car to stock, then do what you like best. Front and rear spoilers were always black, but alot of folks paint them these days too, so anything goes really.

Hey, can anyone answer or theorize at least a guess to my last question?

I stumbled on this item thru another thread yesterday, and like it even better than what I was going to do. I am mot sure what purpose 4 holes instead of one big one seves though.
