screeching noise while turning?

hey my 99 gt has a metal on metal screeching type sound coming from something up front, i though it was the brakes so i changed them and while turning the wheels to get the calipers back on i hear screeeeeccchhhhh, i cant tell where its coming from sounds more towards the passsenger side if anything, are there any common problems or something i could check out?

I had that problem, Ford told me it was the tie rods. Replaced them and the sound is gone. Supposedly you can just cut a hole in the tie rod boot and grease the heck out of it but I heard of that technique after I replaced them.

yeah thats what i figured my friends 94 5.0 does the same thing, just didnt think tie rods would go out so frequently. if you cut a hole in the boot how do you seal it back up?
