I would say get the exhaust first. You can slap it on without tuning it, get a good sound, but you might not get much power (depending on what exhaust though). Then buy the tuner and a few other parts and then install and tune for it.

Do you want a better sound or better performance. See if you can get both. Get a tune/intake combo from American Muscle, Brenspeed or BBR. and look in the classifieds for a used set of axlebacks.

I would get a tune to better compliment the CAI. You may have picked up 5-10 rwhp with the CAI, but with the tune you are looking at 25 rwhp with a 91-93 tune. For axlebacks, there are lot of good choices. With the stock catted H, none of the axlebacks will sound raspy. The raspy sound is usually produced by an o/r x with a chambered muffler but all o/r midpipes with any axleback are a little raspy at mid to upper RPMs. For a deep tone go with stingers, magnapacks or MAC.

Get the exhaust first, that way you can get a custom tune for your setup with the new exhaust, instead of having to get a new tune when you put on the new exhaust.

You don't need a "custom" tune for an exhaust. New axlebacks-no tune needed, O/R midpipe-no tune needed but would be a good idea to keep CEL off. L/T headers-tune would be a good idea. If you get a hand held tuner/CAI package from brensped, BBR or American Muscle/Bamachips, the tuner can make changes for L/T for free.
