SCT Xcal 2 tune

anyone know how important it is to remove the fuel pump and electric fan fuse while installing the program. is it necessary or just a recommendation. just dont wanna mess anything up

It's just a safety precaution so that there is less chance of a voltage spike during programming. I don't want to tell you NOT to do it, but let's just say that I never do it when I'm tuning vehicles.

lets face it....it took longer to type in your question than it would have taken to just remove them.

my dealer told me not to worry about it. I did ask because of my F150 requirements.

My tuner told me not to worry about it. But like stated above, it takes so little time that you may as well pull them. It will probably take longer just to find them the first time.

On certain vehicles, it's a requirement to remove the fueses. For instance, the Lincoln Blackwood will leave you with a blank processor if you don't remove the ABS fuse.

The WDS flash tool that Ford Service uses requires the same fuses to be removed, so it's standard protocol.

That being said, I don't remove my fuses in my 05 Mustang GT when flashing. However, I strongly recommend it for 100% safety.
