SCT XCalibrator 2 vs. DiabloSport Predator

I applaud your patience, Give Me TP. This same discussion comes up over and over again. Xcal2/custom tune vs. Predator/generic tune.

Whoever runs the marketing department of the Xcal2 is a genius.

There are some good deals now on used Predators now that the "new" XCal 2 is out. I would get a Predator now myself if I didn't already have one.

When the damage is occuring with an out of the box Diablo Predator, untouched by the User, that is a Tune error and I will place some blame on operator error for not attempting to correct it.

Now people who have used both products, usually recommend SCT over Diablo. There is a reason for that. Customer service, tune issues are handled better by SCT. The need for the user to adjust their tune is not as common as it is with Diablo.

I am aware of issues with SCT, but they are not as frequent as they are with Diablo. Look at the S197 chapter on this board. At least once or twice a week, somebody is posting about issues with a Diablo Predator and CAI. I have yet to see a SCT issue on this board with the 05 Mustang.

Given the car in this thread and if he gets his tune from Modular Depot, I am sure Ken or Brandon will customize a tune they have built to fit his needs. It won't be an off the shelf tune, I will almost guarantee it.

The original poster's sig shows a 2000 GT. The 05s are a different story than the 99-04s. Yes, SCT was the first to reverse engineer the 05s and Diablosport is playing catch up. Magazine articles have stated that the architecture is different and the handheld tuners are almost like a different product. SCT got the jump and Diablosport is a few laps behind. However, that's irrelevant to this guy's 2000 GT.

About Ken or Brandon from Modular Depot being on top of things.......

I have had issues with my SCT tuner since I bought it a year ago.

I have called, emailed, started topics, and have even send the tuner back to Modular Depot to fix the problem and to this day nothing has been resolved.

The "Service Engine Soon" light stills come on on a "every other day" bases.

According to MD, it was the front O2 sensors, I installed new Ford O2 sensors and still the problem is present.

The trouble code is P1131.

With out the Modular Depot tune, the trouble code will not come on, and as soon as the Modular Depot tune is installed, the trouble code appears after a day or two of normal driving.

I have spoken to Brian of SCT and he believes its the tune.

I would like Modular Depot to step up and take responsibility, but after emails, private messages, that have gone unanswered to from Ken, I don't see that day coming anytime soon.

This is just my opinion based on my experience with Modular Depot.

I am sorry that you are having the issues with MD, that sucks. I would look at getting SCT to help you out now. I am sure Brian would since you have already talked to him. I am aware of your issue with MD, however that is not the norm for them and I am not sure as to why they are ignoring you.

Did you posting your xtr file on SCT forums? I had a pinging problem with my MD tune from 600-1500 RPM. Ryan@sct forums correcting the timing on my xtr file and it's running great now.
