Hey guys I am about to change my oil pan gasket. I got the one piece so i dont have to use those little timing cover corners right? Where should I put rtv if any. And it came with 4 blue plastic pins, what are those for and where do they go?

No silicone. The blue tabs are for holding the gasket in place. Hold the gasket up, screw in the blue pins, then slide pan over the pins. Careful on the ends of the pan.

Also, when I lift up the motor to remove the pan, do i need to remove the driveshaft? Just wondering because I dont want all my tranny fluid to come out when I lift up the car. I will do it if I have to but would rather not, can I get it high enough with the driveshaft attached?

I think if you unbolt the driveshaft from the rear end you may have enough height in the trans tunnel to lift the motor without binding up.If you can do it this way the yoke will stay in the tailshaft and hopefully not lose fluid,maybe use a string are something to hold it from slipping out.

I used silicone on my second build and it's been going strong for 8 years now. The first one leaked when I just used the one piece gasket and no silicone.

Black RTV in the corners on the block where the crank is. Its also A LOT easier to put a new pan gasket on with the timing cover already installed. Ive always used 3M RTV, but one day I decided to use some Permatex I had laying around, and the pan leaked...so use a good RTV, permatex sucks

So just put rtv in the corners of the engine and thats it? Would it be better to just put a small bead around the whole thing? And do i put it gasket to pan, or gasket to engine, or both? Thanks guys, just want to be sure so I only do this once.

I put it on both sides all around. This was the light blue one piece gasket from Discount that says not to use any rtv.

Make sure that you get the correct one piece seal that matches the oil pan you are using. If you use the one piece seal that is designed for an older Windsor engine (289) that does not use the same style oil pan, it will leak.

When I finished the 5.0 swap on my 66 i used the seal designed for the 5.0's oil pan and it leaked like a bizatch. I pulled it and put on the one piece designed for the 289's oil pan and it sealed up perfect.

I'm sure you did the smart thing and bought the correct part, but I just wanted to offer that advice.
