Seam welding?

I'm always looking for ways to improve the handling on my Mustang, and one project I was wanting to do this winter is seam welding of my car. I have been trying to find information regarding this but pretty much every car forum I frequent, as well as google, turns up virtually nothing in regards to this.

I was wondering if anybody has any experience doing this or knows of any articles regarding this. I'm and experienced welder...I don't need to learn how to do that...But I'm mainly just wonder what areas should be focused upon, and what areas (if any) I should avoid.

i would stay away from the seam welding. i am a body man and i have never known it to be a good idea. stick with the subframe connectors and that kinda stuff. get the weld in connectors to. i put them in my car this winter and what a difference they made.

I would do the SFC's and a front strut tower brece. I wanted to find or build a rear strut tower brace. replace sway bar links and bushings with polly ones.

I already have all that stuff on my car guys. I have virtually every piece MM sells for a fox body on my car. I'm basically looking to get as much chassis stiffness out of my car as possible without going to a cage. I know this kind of thing is often performed on track cars and rally cars to increase chassis stiffness even with a cage installed and I just want to get some information on how it is usually done.

The only other thing that I can think of that you might not have is through the floor SFCs. If you do a search on here and google it you can find some pretty good articles with pics on how to do it your self.

Well I could do that, but I doubt that it's worth the trouble of cutting my MM SFC's out just to put in some through-floor style ones.

One of the write ups I saw had a set of SFCs and then the through the floor style as well.

I wouldn't do it without having the car on a frame rack while doing the welding so you're 100% sure the car is straight before you start welding.
