Seat bolts snapped

I was trying to remove the passenger seat to hide some wiring and clean up the carpet under the seat. I have not had them out since I have owned the car. The front two went fine, then I tried one of the rear ones and snap. Thought it may have been a fluke since the front two were fine, the other rear one - snap.

I was like huh well that sucks. You can see the bolts still in the floor and when I was loosening them there was no real give, just a snap really quickly.

Any ideas on how to get those ****ers out? I guess I could take it to somewhere and have them weld a bolt to the floor or something but not exactly how safe that would be.

Get an easy out attachment for your drill. (might want to soak it in pb blaster first) Sears and other tool stores should carry them.

Any chance you've got subframe connectors that have involved, perhaps with a welder, the rear seat bolts under the car?

Winner winner chicken dinner. Yeah I found that out yesterday when I looked under the car to check and see if I could get some vice grips on the studs and there they were, with nuts bolting down the MM subframe connectors.

Took those nuts off, put PB on both and this evening after the wife leaves for work and I have the whole garage I am going to jack it up and see if I can get them out with some vice grips.

Never even thought about the bolts being bolted to the floor and then having nuts on the bottom side. Live and learn.

Ugh this is a pain in the butt. I have the holes drilled in the screws to use the ez outs. Problem is I dont have a drill with enough power to budge them. Gonna go see what I can find, its a good excuse to buy a new nice drill right?

Well got a new drill and it has plenty of juice. Problem is the ez out snapped and I really wasnt even getting on it hard at all. So there goes that idea. I have been soaking it in pb every so often all day. I may take it to a shop and have them weld the nut on the underside of the bolt tomorrow and see if they can break them lose and take em out the bottom of the car.

If that doesnt work, well then I am kinda sol

The ez out broke? Nice work. did u remember to take the nut off of the bottom?

If there is enough room you can double up the nuts on the bottom and use the "top" on to turn the bolt. No reason that thing should be that tight at all. Make sure the threads are clean, sometimes the road grime makes them hard to turn.

I am going to take it to a buddies shop tomorrow and am going to weld a nut onto the stud sticking out the bottom. Hopefully will be able to come out fairly easily after that.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. So now when people ride with me they sit in the back and the passenger seat remains empty as I didn't remove the bolts yet. This was about a year ago
