Senior project car

Im 17 years old and im about to go into my Senior year. For my school we have to do a year long project and i wanna get a fox body and use it for my project. The title of my project is going to be car modification so im going to try to build the car up with some kind of exaust, headers, some 4-10 gears mabe. im just not sure where to start though after i find a car im my price range. So could i get some pointers ?

I think he is probably talking about his senior project which if I remember correctly you do in english class? lol which makes it worse.

But anyways, what is your price range.... Your probably looking at around 2k for a running project car. And probably around a grand in parts to do enough for a project(if you can install them yourself), that will probably include an exhaust, maybe visible engine mods, and some exterior changes so your classmates and teachers can see you did something instead of just throwing horsepower and torque numbers at them. You may need to do a rattle can primer paint job because the body and paint will probably look like crap.

And I find that hard to believe with no capitalization, and 3 misspelled words in that one small sentence, actually its not even a sentence, that fragment. You cant possibly be going to college if you cant even spell it.

i got some cash saved up and if i sell my car now i would have around 4500, and i can spell just not type fast and spell

I can't spell and type fast at the same time either, and I'm a writer... sort of. Just take it easy on the keys.

I think you'll have to get the car first in order for us to give you some pointers. I mean the car could already have gears, exhaust, and a few mods in it; but it could have crappy paint, hacked up wiring, or any other kind of combination of things.

More than likely you'll have a 4 lug car, convert it to 5 lugs the cheap way (Mark VII rotors / Ranger drums & axles); it's fairly easy and it should put a lot of words on the paper.

I think the best starter Foxbody hands down would be 89, Coupe would be the most ideal i think. After that anything 90 to 93. Always a 5-speed naturally. Start with the cheap and free stuff 1st. Remove the air box silencer in the fender, pitch the frt sway-bar, remove the A/C and smog pump and find some 4 banger springs for the rear. Then work on the not so cheap stuff. Headers, h-pipe and maybe some flows if you have some extra cash. Stock mufflers are fine with a stock engine. Grears. 3.55 maybe some 3.73's if you have a good tune up and play with the timing. I think thats a cheap start and you will see a real improvement.

Get a car and then see what needs to be done to it. Like mob said, do more visual stuff to it so they can actually tell that you did something to the car. You could rebuild the engine and they wouldn't even know the difference.

I also agree on getting an 89+ notch or hatch. LX's are faster anyways

How come every year someone wants to do a senior project on their car? Where is the educational value in that?

Unless you are in engineering and are develping, say, a pressure sensitve brake pedal to regulate the intensity of brake lights, then there really isn't a point to buy some headers off a shelf, install them and write up something saying you gained power. Doesn't exactly fill out the resume too well.

And i wouldn't worry about the spelling and punctuation. I'm an engineer and my internet spelling and punctuation blows ass.

i did my senior project on mine haha. cuz its easy, fun, and isnt ghey like doing a project on investing in the community? idk about you but when i was in high school, anything i could do to get out of doing any kind of work, was what i did.

Depends on what you want to do with your life... Doing a project on a car for me would have been a waste of time and money. Do the car stuff for FUN, that way if/when you don't finish in time or can't afford it, you don't FAIL school on top of it. A free ride to college doesn't matter if you don't graduate!

so your saying if you do something easy for a senior project your going to fail at life? idk what school you guys went to or when, but when i got out in 05, senior project was the biggest joke EVER. you could do it on diversity in the size of poop and they would pretty much give you an A as long as you had a clear thesis, body, and conclusion to your paper and some glitter on your posterboard you were pretty much set.

i got an A on mine and i didnt even hand in a single deadline until the final draft was due.

Car projects suck. You never are satisfied with what you do. Always wanting more, or to change it some how. Just don't start so young. You'll only spend all your money trying to get what you want in the car, and never get what you want out of the car.

i live in KC, and whats wrong with doing something like this for school, i was planning to get a stang soon anyway so i might as well do my project on something i like(car modification), not some boring crap like everybody else in my school is going to do
