I am currently looking at re-painting my mustang (95 convertible GT) but I was thinking of replacing the hood at the same time. I was thinking of getting the Cervini heat extractor hood - similar to the Saleen S351. I may possibly put a 351 windsor in at some point so that should give me the extra clearance too.

Its a fiberglass hood with the latch instead of hood pins. I don't want hood pins. How will a fiberglass hood hold up? I want strength and durability. I am concerned that the latch components won't hold up and that there may not be an internal frame for added strength.

Does anyone have feedback on aftermarket hoods? Any particular brands? Carbon fibre, fiberglass, or aluminum?

Also, I can't seem to find any service manuals for the 95 mustang. I was hoping to get a cd version or pdf version. Does this exist? I have the Haynes version but it doesn't cover everything I find.

99% of people will tell you to get hood pics for a aftermarket hood. Some have been ok without them others have not been so lucky.

Cervini makes a GREAT f/glass hood!! You will be happy with the quality of it. I've got one of there Cobra R hoods, love it. I'm using factory latch. Yes the hood is reinforced where the latch grabs. Never had any problems with it!

Thanks Cobra259

I kind of figured that it had to be strong enough to support the factory hood latch if they sell it like that. I've seen a lot of mustangs in the magazines without hood pins but different hoods too.

It just made me worried because I have read on some forums that people say you "must" get them otherwise the hood will just break and fly off.

Yeah I agree with cobra259. I wouldn't hesitate using a hood latch with a hood made from Cervini. I have the Cobra R hood on my mustang and they are great!!

I wouldn't worry about the hood flying up on a high quality hood, as long as the latch is adjusted properly. I myself did put hood pins in but I like the look.
